Personal Project - Solo - Reality Show Simulation Game
Gameplay Video Showcasing 2 Weeks In-Game
This project was a solo-dev project made in Unity inspired by my love for the tv show "Big Brother". I wanted to create a simulation text-based game that closely followed along with that of the show. I made the project modular to allow for consistent additions in order to give a unique experience each time. The game contains the flow of Big Brother, along with multiple endings in which the player can "escape" the game, which allows for more content and a larger overarching goal.
The core gameplay follows a format of message blocks, each displaying events that occured during the day. The game is formatted into days, which follow a weekly format of the first day of the week hosting a competition for the head, and ending with a veto competiton to get taken off of nominations, leading into the eviction. The player interacts with the game during free time by selecting actions and targets, and during choices the player must pick an option, with each option making a check of a specific stat depending on what it is.
The player is given the choice between 5 different actions during the day (excluding stats as it is a menu). Each action leads to a different set of events that relate to the premise of the action. Once the player is in an event they will have to make a choice between options, and will get differing results whether they pass or fail
At the beginning of the week, the head of household competition takes every player except the last Head of Household and has them compete to become the next Head of Household. The player is given the option to play for the win or throw, leading to a lower threat/higher threat game. The winner gets to choose 2 players to be put up for eviction.
The veto competition phase has specific players competing in a competition, with the winner being able to save a player from elimination. This is core to the experience as it allows for more strategy even after being put up for eviction.
This shows the excel sheet used for creating the formula that would take into account the different data relating to the 2 other players in order to decide threat level and overall value to their game.
These are the icons that I had designed for the actions that the player can take. I tried to make each image readily apparent as to what it represents. Each icon is similar but different enough to be discerned.
These are temporary sprites used as placeholders in my project to be used during development. These sprites were created to give the appearance and vibe of the characters without necessarily needing to put in the effort for complete character designs.
